The 2021 NFL Draft is now less than two weeks away. Most K.C. Chiefs fans have already spent countless hours looking over and debating who the Chiefs should take in the first few rounds. Should they be focused on finding their next left tackle? Could they be looking for a true number two wide receiver to replace Sammy Watkins? What about another pass rush threat opposite Frank Clark? Do they simply take the best player available? At this point there are tons of articles out there covering these topics and more when it comes to the Chiefs early picks, but what about those late-round selections?

Hitting on a first-round selection is obviously huge for a team, but finding future starters in the late rounds is a fantastic way to build a deep and talented roster. While it may not be more important than hitting on those early picks, it can be every bit as valuable. Unfortunately, with so many draft picks to choose from, identifying those late-round sleepers can be a lot more difficult than identifying the premiere talent who will be selected in the first couple of rounds.

My goal for this piece today is to help identify some late-round targets for the Chiefs that I really like and think have some true upside, guys that most fans aren’t familiar with. I believe the earliest any of these players would be considered would be K.C.’s late 5th round picks (#175 and #181), with their 6th round pick (#207) being the most likely for some. Some of them may even end up being guys who the Chiefs would target as undrafted free agents after the draft.

It seems like every year the Chiefs take a few players I have never even heard of, despite all my hours of draft research. Hopefully this post gives you some new names to look into and consider as we get ready for the draft, so that just maybe this year when the Chiefs take that prospect that most people have never heard of, you’ll be ready.

Let’s start with some offensive skill position players.
