KC Chiefs gain proven performers in seven-round mock draft
By Josh Fann
Round 3, pick 94, CB Keith Taylor
The Chiefs could certainly use some defensive back dept with a few question marks at corner and the fact Bashaud Breeland is still a free agent. That’s why the Chiefs taking the best player on the board at pick 94 in Washington defensive back Keith Taylor would be ideal. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t trust Charvarius Ward as this team’s starting outside corner all that much. I honestly think he hit his ceiling as a solid CB2 at best and Deandre Baker is still an unknown. Supplementing a player like Taylor into that rotation would be exciting.
Taylor was a two-year starter for the Huskies and proved to be a key player on defense because of his willingness to tackle and his size (6’2″, 195 lbs), which allows him to defend a lot of passes. Taylor had 10 passes defended in his career at Washington and accumulated 90 total tackles.
I’m also a really big fan of Washington defensive backs because UW is notorious for producing NFL-caliber defensive backs year after year and Taylor is no exception. Taylor has the potential to become a solid starting outside cornerback to compliment L’Jarius Sneed and he could also play in a robber role which would take some pressure off the safety position.
The Chiefs should add defensive back depth in general, regardless if they’re listed as a corner or a safety.
