Dee Ford

Yes that’s right. Dee Ford. The Dee Ford that arguably cost the Chiefs a trip to the Super Bowl in 2018. A Super Bowl that the Chiefs likely would have won.

For the record, I moreso blame the Chris Jones “roughing the passer” call on Tom Brady as to why the Chiefs lost that game than Dee Ford’s unfortunate offsides call. However, many seem to forget about how great Ford was for the Chiefs despite the offsides mishap in the 2018 AFC Championship game. Totaling 30.5 sacks in his time with Kansas City, Ford was a great speed rusher who possessed arguably the best first step in the NFL.

Yes, what Ford did was awful on that fateful night in 2018, but you know he wanted to win and sometimes players make mistakes. Ford had injury problems all throughout his time in Kansas City, and he still struggles with health concerns today. That’s part of the reason the Chiefs ultimately decided to move on and trade him to the San Francisco 49ers, but that doesn’t change the fact Ford was under-appreciated. He was a monster on the field when healthy.
