Sammy Watkins – Earning interest from BAL, IND

After the first wide receivers came off the board in free agency, Sammy Watkins found himself as one of the hotter names in week two. He’s en route to visits to Baltimore and Indianapolis to check in with the Ravens and Colts, respectively. There’s also more interest from the Titans and Texans if he wants to continue the free agent tour. Watkins took a patient approach in years past, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone if he wants to hear from every suitor before signing.

Darrel Williams – Re-signed 1-year deal with K.C.

The postseason pecking order made it clear that the former LSU back had become a trusted favorite of the Chiefs coaching staff, so it wasn’t a surprise to see the Chiefs re-sign Williams to a $2 million-plus deal for 2021. Williams has become a well-rounded back who can move the chains, catch a pass, and block better than any other backfield option. He’s a clear No. 2 behind Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Damien Wilson – Unsigned

The Chiefs have Willie Gay Jr. in the fold for a second-season leap which likely keeps Damien Wilson as an overlooked performer on the outside looking in. He was a solid underrated buy for Brett Veach as a willing tackler who made the defense all the more physical. However, it shouldn’t surprise anyone to see the Chiefs add another high(er) ceiling linebacker in the draft and try to improve the overall athleticism and potential in the second level.

Stefen Wisniewski – Unsigned

Wisniewski was a nice midseason signing for the Chiefs in each of the last two seasons to help bolster the team’s guard rotation. That said, the team is now loaded at the particular position with the return of LDT and the signing of Thuney and Long alongside the re-signing of Andrew Wylie and presence of Nick Allegretti. Just no room for Wisniewski again.

Andrew Wylie – Given original-round tender

The Chiefs made their call on Andrew Wylie to tender him an offer which means they have the right of first refusal for now. It will be interesting to see if any team tries to sign him away or not, but the Chiefs hold the keys. Expect him back for at least another season.

Deon Yelder – Unsigned

The Chiefs are allowing Yelder to hit free agency, and some team is likely going to give him another chance given his experience with the Chiefs and his raw athleticism. Yelder looks the part but never fully developed into the sort of weapon that the Chiefs likely envisioned, which is why they’ve let him walk.
