Mike Pennel – Unsigned

In the middle of the ’19 campaign, Mike Pennel turned heads as a valuable midseason signing who helped turn around the Chiefs run defense in the midst of a wholesale defensive change for the better. The Chiefs quickly worked to bring him back for another run and the second go-around was fine. Nothing more. It’s hard to see why the team would bring him back given the presence of so much youth at the position, including Derrick Nnadi, Turk Wharton, Khalen Saunders alongside Chris Jones.

Byron Pringle  – Given original-round tender as RFA

The electric returner and promising receiver is going to get a real chance to make a greater offensive impact with the Chiefs after getting a tender from the Chiefs to return in 2021—assuming he returns. Chiefs have the right of first refusal here, so we’ll see if he earns interest from another team. Fans have been clamoring for more opportunities for Pringle and the potential losses of other FA wideouts will give him that shot in ’21.

Austin Reiter – Considering offer to return

The Chiefs are reportedly interested in a reunion here, so this might be resolved by the time you’re reading this. Either way, for a last-second waiver claim before the 2018 season, Reiter has certainly made good on the Chiefs initial investment on him and then some with nearly two seasons worth of starts starting at center on a Super Bowl contender. It might be a third by the time you read this.

Mike Remmers – Re-signed with Chiefs

After early reports had the Chiefs interested in bringing back Remmers, Brett Veach followed through on it with a one-year contract to bring back the versatile offensive lineman for another season. Remmers gives the Chiefs some security along the line with his ability to play multiple positions, and he can serve as the team’s right tackle if necessary.
