3. Chad Williams, Wide Receiver

Drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, wide receiver Chad Williams rejoined the Chiefs roster on January 14th. Williams spent his first two seasons in the NFL with Arizona, playing in 16 total games including eight starts for the Cardinals in that span. He hauled in 20 receptions for 200 yards and a touchdown in his tenure there. He spent the 2019 season with the Indianapolis Colts, but appeared in just one game and did not record a reception.

Williams spent some time on the Kansas City practice squad in 2020, but was cut in November before being brought back last month. He has clearly not flashed a ton of elite playmaking ability at the NFL level, but certainly did while at Grambling State—enough to be a top 100 selection in the draft.

We know that Kansas City will almost certainly be in the market for wide receivers during the 2021 offseason. If nothing else, the team appears all but certain to lose Sammy Watkins and is likely to lose Demarcus Robinson as well. Williams has the potential to push to fill the Robinson role, though it would take some development on his part to do so. Then again, the Chiefs have a certain MVP quarterback at the helm who tends to make a lot of people look a lot better.
