Byron Pringle looks the part

It might feel weird to lift up a rarely used wide receiver as a positive note from the Super Bowl loss for the Chiefs, but there was something electric about the way Byron Pringle played on Sunday that made it clear he’s got a stronger future with this team.

On a night where special teams play was troubling at multiple turns, Pringle looked sharp in his execution on assignments and showed solid tackling when others struggled there. Even more, his return ability is legitimate—as the Chiefs saw earlier this year with his 102-yard return in Week 7—and he looked as if he might break through more than once on Sunday.

The bottom line is that Pringle looks like a prospect making the most of limited opportunities. Next season when the depth chart might not be as crowded above him, it makes sense that we’d see more of Pringle on offense as well as making further impact on special teams.
