Mahomes’ heroics were real
On Sunday, Patrick Mahomes was held without a touchdown for the first time in his professional career. His completion rate was poor and his passer rating was abysmal. He threw two interceptions on top of it all, and he admitted after the game that he has some miscues to review.
None of that matter. Even in a loss, Mahomes’ heroics were still front and center for all to see.
Even Mahomes’ incompletions on Sunday drew rave reviews on social media, as jaws dropped coast to coast at the very throws that the Chiefs quarterback was even attempting.
It was the dime delivered to Darrel Williams in the front of the end zone as Mahomes threw like a shortstop fielding a slow roller. It was the first quarter touchdown nullified after Tyreek Hill didn’t come down with a pass that hit him in the face. It was the near-grab by Byron Pringle going out of bounds in the back of the end zone on a desperate heave to avoid a sack.
If not for Mahomes, the Chiefs would have lost by 50 or more on Sunday night.
Tom Brady might have been awarded the MVP trophy, and rightfully so, on Sunday night, but there was no doubt about which of the two quarterbacks is the most talented. The heroics were on display for all to see, and the Chiefs will be favorites for years to come because of it.
