Andrew Wylie

Versatile offensive lineman Andrew Wylie enters this year’s Super Bowl with a little bit of a chip on his shoulder. After starting most of 2019 at left guard, the 26-year-old found himself in the doghouse toward the end of the season. After the 2019 signing of Stefen Wisniewski, Wylie eventually yielded the starting left guard job. He was a healthy scratch throughout the 2019 playoffs.

Fast forward to last summer: after starting right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif chose to opt out of the 2020 season, that opened the door for redemption. The 6’6″ 310-lb. Wylie earned the starting job at right guard, which is where he spent most of 2020, plus a little bit of work at tackle when Remmers missed time in December. It should be pointed out that Wylie played pretty well in New Orleans, against a pretty decent pass rush. Wylie was matched up against star defensive end Cameron Jordan, and he held his own.

Thankfully, Wylie’s versatility has come in handy for the Chiefs, as he will now move out to right tackle again while Remmers crosses over to the left side in place of injured Eric Fisher. Wylie will certainly be tested on Sunday against edge rushers Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaq Barrett.

Wylie has a Super Bowl ring, for sure. But this week is very different for him, as it will be the first time he takes the field in a Super Bowl.
