Le’Veon Bell

Only one game remains for the Le’Veon Bell chapter of this season to live up to the hype.

When the Chiefs first signed Bell at midseason, they not only beat out several other suitors for his services, but it was also considered to be an embarrassment of riches. Bell, after all, has been an All-Pro back known for his incredible patience and vision as a runner. His productive career speaks for itself, and after coming over from the New York Jets, Bell was going to be a motivated runner capable of providing the Chiefs with even more offensive fireworks than they already had on the aleague’s. most dangerous roster.

Fast forward to the present and the season has almost closed without a single significant impact game from Bell. He’s certainly looked solid at times, and has pulled off a few very impressive runs when asked. But Andy Reid has largely kept the veteran star on the sideline for one reason or another—including recent health concerns that have kept Bell from even playing at all when it matters most.

Bell now has a chance to play in a Super Bowl—something every veteran player wants—but a lingering knee injury seems to be trending in the wrong direction. After being limited in practice early last week, Bell ended the week by missing Friday’s practice entirely. Perhaps the Chiefs just want to rest him up until the big game, but typically a player ramps up his activity level as the practice week goes on. Bell’s availability will be something to watch, especially given Edwards-Helaire’s health questions as well.
