Super Bowl LV: Prop bets and odds for KC Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers
As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV, sports bettors far and wide have begun to make their bets on nearly every aspect of the game. These range from more standard bets, like who will win and by how much, to more exotic plays, like will the score be tied after zero to zero at any point.
With sports betting becoming legal in an increasing number of states (18 at present), more and more people have started to pay attention to what the oddsmakers are saying about potential results for the big game. Of course, betting on the Super Bowl has long been one of America’s favorite sports-related pastimes. And this year, with the biggest quarterback duel in many years on the slate, more people are sure to be laying down some money in predicting the outcome.
We’re here to run you through bets (with lines from the folks at Bovada) far and wide for this year’s big game.
Super Bowl LV standard betting odds
Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5) versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The most basic of all bets is who will win the game. In Super Bowl LV, the Kansas City Chiefs are currently favored, despite Tampa Bay playing at home, by 3.5 points. The bettor can either wager that the Chiefs will win by more than 3.5 points, or that the Bucs will win or lose by less than 3.5 points, in order to cash in on this wager. We don’t need to tell you how we’re betting.
Kansas City Chiefs versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers (O/U 56.5)
The next most common bet in the Super Bowl (and games writ large) is on the total number of points to be scored. In this game, the O/U is set at 56.5, so you can bet on the teams’ combined score being over or under that total. It is potentially relevant to note that only five Super Bowls since the year 2000 have surpassed 56 points total, so betting the over may be a big gamble.
In addition to the above wagers, you could also bet on just the first half, with an O/U of 27.5 and a line featuring the Chiefs at -2.5 in the game’s first 30 minutes.
