1. Patrick Mahomes

Was there ever any doubt on who would be number one on this list? As great as the rest of the top five on this list are, Patrick Mahomes is simply the most amazing quarterback the NFL has ever seen. There is no more valuable player in any sport playing today. I don’t think that’s even a hot take at this point. Quarterback is such a huge important part of a NFL team’s success, and having one who is simply hands down the best in the league gives the Chiefs an advantage unlike any other in sports.

Now, you can certainly say that having a coach like Andy Reid and weapons like Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce give him an unfair advantage over most other quarterbacks, but anyone who watches Mahomes play knows that they aren’t the only reason for his success. Mahomes just makes plays at a rate unlike any other quarterback I’ve ever seen. Nothing even surprises me anymore. I am actually getting used to seeing plays that shouldn’t even be possible on a football field. He’s that good.

The combination of Mahomes, Reid, Hill, and Kelce may make the Chiefs offense the hardest to stop of any team in the history of the NFL. I know that’s a bold statement, but frankly it’s one that is becoming harder and harder to deny.

I didn’t even mention offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy yet, who definitely should be a head coach next season. I thought long and hard about putting him on this list too, but I struggled with who to take off and the presence of the big four at the top of this list make it likely that this offense would still be a monster even without a great coordinator like Bieniemy, which could be what some GMs are thinking as well (although strange that it didn’t stop Doug Pederson and Matt Nagy from getting hired).

Anyway, that’s my list of the top ten reasons why the Chiefs are headed back to the Super Bowl. What do you think Chiefs fans? Do you agree with the list? Did I leave anyone off that you think should be on it? Do you think there are major issues with the order I have? I would love to read your thoughts in the comments below. Regardless of if you agree with the list, I think we all can agree that the Chiefs making it back to the Super Bowl is reason to celebrate.
