With Week 15 in the books, let’s reflect back on a few lessons learned about the Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs emerged victorious from their marque matchup against the New Orleans Saints in Week 15. The matchup was billed as a possible Super Bowl preview, and the Chiefs answered the bell, winning 32-29. In a combative, ferocious contest, the Chiefs flexed their grit and moved on to 13-1.

With another week in the books, here are some lessons learned about the Chiefs after their Week 15 victory.

Chiefs ace tough part of schedule

With Sunday’s victory, the Chiefs are a perfect 5-0 over their last five contests. These five games included wins over an inspired Raiders team, Tom Brady and the Buccaneers, the dangerous Dolphins. and the division-leading Saints.

While many of these victories left Chiefs fans a bit unsatisfied thanks to how close they were, the big picture is clear: the Chiefs emerged from a brutal part of their schedule 5-0. We can acknowledge that plenty of these wins lacked style points, but the Chiefs’ ability to pull through has them sitting as the 1 seed in the AFC with two weeks to go. Granted, the Chiefs haven’t clinched, but they’ve taken care of business and sit in good position to clinch in the coming weeks.

One tidbit I find especially impressive is that the Chiefs were able to defeat the Bucs and Saints—teams with fantastic defensive lines—despite their makeshift, injury-plagued offensive line. With a couple easier games on the horizon, combined with a potential first-round bye in the playoffs, the Chiefs can exhale a bit this morning and hopefully heal up—especially along the offensive line.
