Tyreek Hill and Yasir Durant are the latest Chiefs to be too sick to practice.

After a player was forced to sit out practice last week after contracting an illness, two more members of the Kansas City Chiefs have become too sick to do so as well on Wednesday with word that wide receiver Tyreek Hill and offensive lineman Yasir Durant were both ill.

In addition, linebacker Damien Wilson also sat out of practice due to injury.

While the Chiefs aren’t dealing with anything COVID-related, at least not in these instances, the team has been struck by an illness for the past couple weeks that left rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire unable to not only practice last week but even play on Sunday. Le’Veon Bell earned the starter’s reps but he split plenty of opportunities with Darrel Williams in the backfield against the Denver Broncos in Week 13.

As the Chiefs prepare for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon, they’re going to be frustrated offensively if Hill is unable to play. Hill is not only one of the NFL’s best all-around wide receivers, but his top-tier speed stretches the field and opens up opportunities for everyone else as defenses focus on the Chiefs big-play ability on each and every down with Hill in the lineup.

As for Durant, he’s rarely played this season as a rookie free agent swing tackle, but he was able to earn some reps when both Mitchell Schwartz and Mike Remmers were injured during the same game. Still he’s a member of the active roster every week and his availability would alter the picture for the team’s depth up front.

The Dolphins feature one of the league’s better defenses with perhaps the game’s most productive defensive back in Xavien Howard. Hill and Howard will be a prime matchup to watch if the Chiefs wideout is able to play.
