No Perfect NFC Team

While the NFC has several very good teams, I would argue that they don’t have a single great team. Every team that looks like a safe playoff team at this point has some kind of question mark. Two of the best teams in the NFC are quarterbacked by Tom Brady and Drew Brees who have a combined age of 84. While they are without a doubt two of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, you have to question if their bodies will be capable of still producing at a high level six to seven months into the NFL season by the time the Super Bowl rolls around.

Yes, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints have great rosters, but in order to beat the Kansas City Chiefs, the quarterback is going to have to keep pace. If a quarterback can’t scramble around to extend plays much or doesn’t have the arm strength to stretch the field it puts them at a disadvantage.

The Green Bay Packers are one of the few teams that does have a quarterback who could go toe-to-toe with Mahomes, but the Packers roster has more holes than K.C. Their defense is allowing about five points per game more than the Chiefs, and they certainly don’t have as many weapons for Aaron Rodgers to work with as Mahomes does.

The NFC West is a loaded division, but with three teams currently locked at 6-3 it looks like they may cannibalize each other. Russell Wilson looked poised to push Mahomes as the best quarterback in the league this year early, but he’s started turning the ball over and their defense is an absolute mess.

The bottom line here is that no team in the NFC boasts a resume as strong as the Chiefs. There are some really good teams, but I don’t think you can make an argument that any of them should be a bigger Super Bowl favorite than K.C. right now.

So there you have it, Chiefs fans: Five reasons why the Kansas City Chiefs should still be seen as the clear Super Bowl favorite coming out of their bye week for the final stretch of the season. I believe in this team and can’t wait to see how everything plays out. So what do you think? Do you agree they are the clear favorite or do you think I’m selling some other teams short? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
