NFL trade deadline ideas for the Kansas City Chiefs
By Matt Conner
Fabian Moreau
If the Chiefs wanted to add some cornerback depth for the stretch run, an interesting name to consider is Washington corner Fabian Moreau.
Washington selected Moreau in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, a prospect out of UCLA who slid to the third due to a pectoral injury suffered during his pro day. Moreau was projected by many as a potential late first round pick who has excellent top-end speed (4.35 second time in the 40-yard dash). He was converting as a former running back to the role already, and at the age of 26, he still is likely growing into the position at the pro level.
Jack Del Rio has shown little use for Moreau, who is scheduled for free agency at the end of this year. (Are you sensing the pattern here?) Yet he’s fast and physical and he’s got impressive size at 6’0″, 205 lbs. for a guy who could start on the boundary. It also helps that Moreau is likely going to be had for pennies on the dollar.
Moreau would be an interesting buy for Veach here as a still young player with a high ceiling who has yet to put it all together due to injuries and poor scheme fit. The Chiefs’ coaching staff has done excellent work with projectable prospects like Rashad Fenton and L’Jarius Sneed and Charvarius Ward already. Moreau could be an interesting buy-low opportunity to check out in the season’s second half.
Proposed deal: 2022 7th round choice for Moreau
