After Week 6, the Chiefs continue to control the AFC West. Here’s a look at the full NFL standings.

Now six weeks into the NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs continue to lead the AFC West. They travelled to Buffalo to take on the Bills and were able to come away with a win to move to 5-1.

The Green Bay Packers fell this week, bringing the total of undefeated down to just three. Only the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks have perfect records at this point in the season.

The Chiefs and the Denver Broncos were the only teams to play in the AFC West this week. The Las Vegas Raiders had their scheduled bye week this week, and the Los Angeles Chargers had their bye week moved to this week.

The Chiefs played their third Monday night game in four weeks due to rescheduling from COVID-19 outbreaks. This also affected the Chargers, who had their bye week, which was previously scheduled for Week 10, moved to this week.

The Chiefs quite literally hit the ground running against the Bills en route to a victory. It was a messy day in Buffalo, with rainy and cold conditions, which set up the game for a rushing first strategy. In addition to this, the Bills plan was to limit the Chiefs from passing.

This plan worked, but it backfired massively on the Bills. The Chiefs ran the ball 46 times, with 26 of those carries going to rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Edwards-Helaire turned those carries into 161 yards, but was unable to find the end zone. The Chiefs will be adding even more talent to their backfield next week, as they just signed running back Le’Veon Bell to a one-year deal. Fueled by a run first offense, the Chiefs breezed past the Bills 26-17 and showed the rest of the NFL that they can win without airing the ball out.

The Denver Broncos faced off against the New England Patriots this week and had a game full of ugly football. The Broncos got starting quarterback Drew Lock back from an AC joint injury, although he didn’t have his best game. He completed 10/24 passes for 189 yards, but threw 2 interceptions late in the game that almost cost his team the win.

Both teams had trouble finding the end zone, as the Broncos failed to score a single touchdown and the Patriots only scored one touchdown which came in the fourth quarter. The Broncos snuck by the Patriots with six field goals and an 18-12 win.
