The Denver Broncos are likely to be without Dalton Risner when they face the Chiefs in Week 7.

The Denver Broncos are already dealing with a number of significant injuries so far in 2020, but they can add another major potential loss to the list if Dalton Risner is unable to play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7.

As both teams prepare for the first of two matchups this season, the Broncos have found out that Risner, likely the team’s best overall offensive lineman, has been described as “very doubtful” for the upcoming AFC West showdown against K.C. on Sunday.

Risner left the Broncos’ most recent game against the New England Patriots in Week 6 with a shoulder injury and did not return. He was subject to more evaluation after the game and clearly the results are not looking good. Austin Schlottmann took his place against the Pats and could earn the start if Risner is unable to play.

The Broncos have already lost a considerable number of important players for the 2020 season. Quarterback Drew Lock missed several weeks and just returned in Week 6 from an injury to his throwing shoulder. Pass rusher Von Miller and cornerback A.J. Bouye are two key defenders who have missed the entire year. Jurrell Casey, DeMarcus Walker, Dre’Mont Jones and Elijah Wilkinson are linemen also on injured reserve. That doesn’t include skill position players like Courtland Sutton and Austin Fort.

The Chiefs will be dealing with offensive line questions of their own heading into the week. Mitchell Schwartz left the team’s Week 6 win over the Buffalo Bills with a back injury. Meanwhile, the team juggled starters like Austin Reiter for Daniel Kilgore as well. It will be interesting to see what the starting five looks like when they take the field at Mile High.

The Chiefs visit the Broncos on Sunday afternoon at 3:25 p.m. C.T.
