Chris Jones and Frank Clark

The Chiefs had a measly single sack last week against the Raiders and that came when Derek Carr gifted rookie Willie Gay Jr. his first sack by sliding behind the line of scrimmage in his general direction. Meanwhile, K.C.’s high priced duo of Chris Jones and Frank Clark were largely ineffective. That can’t happen in this game.

If this game is going to come down to who has the bigger night between Mahomes and Allen, the Chiefs simply can’t allow Allen to drop back and do whatever he wants. Allen has been putting up big passing numbers, but he also is a threat to run the ball as well. However, Allen has a history of fumble issues, and Jones and Clark can absolutely create some turnovers on Monday if they can get to Allen on a regular basis.

Jones and Clark both seem to be guys that thrive when they are in the spotlight. While you’d like to see them consistently dominate games, hopefully a Monday night (or late afternoon) matchup with another AFC power will be enough to get them fired up and making plays. When this game ends, the Chiefs need Jones and Clark to have had a bigger impact than the guys on Buffalo’s front four. The good news is that you can make a very strong case that Jones and Clark are the two most dominant pass rushers in this game. They just need to play like it.

So there you have it Chiefs fans, your players to watch tonight as the Chiefs go head to head with the Buffalo Bills. Do you agree with this list? Do you feel like I’m overlooking a key player? Are you upset that I’m basically ignoring the importance of the run game and think it will be about the quarterbacks and the guys that impact the quarterbacks in this one? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
