Tyrann Mathieu spoke to reporters and seemed confident after the Chiefs loss to the Raiders.

The Kansas City Chiefs would much rather be celebrating right now than dealing with the concerns of a shocking loss at home at the hands of their rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders, However, veteran safety Tyrann Mathieu had some confident messages for teammates and fans after the game.

On Sunday, the Chiefs hosted the Raiders for a game that no one predicted Las Vegas would win. After all, quarterback Derek Carr had never won a single game at Arrowhead in six attempts (and was 2-10 overall against the Chiefs in his career). The Chiefs hadn’t lost to the Raiders in almost three full years and it certainly didn’t seem like the previously unbeaten team would lose this one.

Even early in the game, the Chiefs were up 14-3 and looked poised for another easy divisional win. Then the Raiders not only crept back in it but eventually took the lead in the 40-32 win at Arrowhead.

In remarks to reporters, Mathieu made it clear that while the Raiders deserved the victory for their efforts on the day, the Chiefs were going to make the most of it and do the work to keep it from happening again.

"“I thought their coaches did a great job of catching us in certain coverages, catching us in certain calls … We’ll learn from it,” he said. “We’ve got a lot of tough guys in our locker room, a lot of guys that are gonna be motivated from this. We havent’ lost a football game in a while, so it’s good to have some motivation. So going forward, that’s what we’ll lean on. We won’t ever forget this day. We’ll see them again. We’ll be ready next time.”"

The Chiefs face the Raiders again at Las Vegas after the bye with a Week 11 showdown on November 22. Before then, the Chiefs face the Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Carolina Panthers. Unless the wheels come off, the Chiefs should win all of those—or at least three—which would mean K.C.’s chance for revenge would feature a 7-2 or 8-1 coming in angry to Sin City.
