We take a look at the most disappointing aspects of the first quarter of the Kansas City Chiefs’season.

It is hard to be negative about a team that is 4-0.

The Kansas City Chiefs are rolling right now, and with only two intimidating games left on the schedule, it does not look like anything is going to stop that momentum. A smothering game against the Texans, a hard fought team win against the Chargers, a narrative smashing dominance of the Ravens, and a defensive stomping against the Patriots. With only the Bills’ game and the Saints’ game left to worry about, the Chiefs look to be in a great position to truly “Run It Back”

But not everything has been perfect for the Chiefs in the first quarter of the season. As a matter of fact, there has almost been more to be worried about then to be completely optimistic about. From the offense sleeping through games, to the always worrisome run defense, to even the normally stout special teams, we look over some of the biggest disappointment from the first four games of the season.

Honorable Mention: Willie Gay Jr.’s lack of playing time

This one does not get to be an official entry mostly because there could be a completely reasonable and understandable reason for this, but fans and analysts just do not know what happens behind the closed doors of coaching meetings.

However, fans and analyst have been vocal, especially on Twitter, about Willie Gay Jr.’s lack of snaps thus far in the season. Through the first three weeks of the season, Gay only had 15 defensive snaps, zero of which came in Week 1. Sure, Week 4 saw Gay grabbing 25 snaps on defense, but that was still less then 33% of all defensive snaps.

Maybe his major and sudden increase in snaps during Week 4’s game is symbolic and foretelling of what is to come for Gay in the near future, but if not, many fans will question why the Chiefs spent a second round pick on a player to ride the bench, especially when the rest of the linebacker group is performing as poorly as they are.
