Most Underrated Player of the Quarter
A few guys came to mind here with Harrison Butker almost taking this one. The multiple 58-yarders were very special and I am not sure if they win that game with someone else. The only issue is he has been a bit shaky lately, including 3 missed extra points.
Sammy Watkins has been influential and makes a huge difference even when he doesn’t have the ball, just watch his blocking, but someone else has made a bigger difference than he has. That man is Rashad Fenton.
Fenton has been a great story so far going from 6th round draft pick a year ago to now being thrust into the starting role due to suspension and injuries on the team. Fenton has blossomed from his role as a rotational slot corner into a very good starter outside. While I understand the sample size is small, and he hasn’t necessarily gone up against the best talent, Fenton has done everything asked and more.
Fenton has an interception and leads the team in passes defended while playing extremely physical. He consistently has shown that the lack of top end speed hasn’t hurt him, and he has been a solid contributor in the run defense. While some of the physical traits aren’t elite, he obviously has enough to get it done.
Whatever Spags is doing with this secondary should be getting more credit as well as he turned the largest issue into an immense asset. Here’s to Rashad Fenton, this quarter’s unsung hero.
