The Raiders will have their best deep threat in years against the Chiefs with Henry Ruggs back from injury.

The Las Vegas Raiders will unveil their best deep threat in years for the first time against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday when Henry Ruggs III takes the field. The wide receiver has been dealing with knee and hamstring injuries, but he was a full participant in practice on Thursday.

Ruggs was the Raiders earliest draft pick at No. 13 overall in the first round. An elite downfield threat out of Alabama, Ruggs was heralded as this draft’s version of Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill—a player the Raiders have watched burn them for several seasons now.

So far this season, Ruggs has been stifled by injuries—one of many for the Raiders this year. In his first game, Ruggs had 3 catches for 55 yards including an impressive 45-yard play. Unfortunately, Ruggs would catch only one more pass for four yards before being shelved for a couple weeks.

Heading into Week 5, Ruggs will provide a major boost for a Raiders offense that has been capped by the loss of so many playmakers. Top wide receiver Tyrell Williams is on injured reserve for the year, and fellow rookie receiver Bryan Edwards has also missed time with a foot injury. The offensive front has been hammered by the loss of Richie Incognito for the year with an Achilles tear and tackle Trent Brown dealing with an ongoing calf injury.

Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller, the team’s top running back and tight end respectively, have also dealt with injuries as the Raiders prepare for the Chiefs in Week 5. Both players have been limited in practice this week.

Last season for the Crimson Tide, Ruggs had 40 catches for 746 yards and 7 touchdowns.
