The Chiefs roster depth

At this point, it’s unknown whether or not Ta’amu will be joined by anyone else on the team’s Reserve/COVID-19 list, but it would be a minor miracle if he was the only one affected. Given the close quarters kept by players in the locker room or while traveling, it’s a longshot that Ta’amu is all there is.

Given the reality that some more players might need to be quarantined, or that the gauntlet of games coming up could lead to more injuries, the Chiefs are going to find their depth tested.

So far, Brett Veach’s roster has showcased an incredible ability to withstand injuries. Take cornerback, where the Chiefs were already supposedly thin. Despite missing Bashaud Breeland due to a suspension and losing Charvarius Ward to injury—yes, that’s the presumed two boundary corners—the Chiefs have looked solid in pass coverage in 2020. Rashad Fenton has stepped up big as a second-year pro and L’Jarius Sneed has been electric in his first three games as a pro.

From here on out, other parts of the Chiefs roster might be tested in much the same way, but the team seems ready for the challenge—or any other such test—given their depth and experience.
