The Chiefs safety measures
Coming into the regular season, the Chiefs were considered a model franchise for the safety measures put into place to safeguard against the spread of the coronavirus. Members of the Chiefs staff—including Rick Burkholder, the Chiefs vice president of sports medicine and performance, and Allen Wright, the Chiefs equipment manager—even worked with the league during the offseason to prepare league-wide safety measures against the coronavirus.
Coming into training camp and beyond, coaches and players alike praised the Chiefs organization for their commitment to player safety and commended the measures implemented to aid with contact tracing, sterilization of equipment, social distancing and more.
At this point, those measures are now being tested. However, Jordan Ta’amu came into contact with COVID-19, the Chiefs will hope that those measures put into place will restrict the spread of the coronavirus. In addition, the contact tracing measures can hopefully help the team quickly identify any and all affected parties to give them the necessary medical care and attention.
It will be interesting to see whether more players beyond Ta’amu test positive and how well the team’s safety measures worked when tested.
