L’Jarius Sneed, Clyde Edwards-Helaire lead Chiefs rookie contributions
Clyde Edwards-Helaire
In Week Two, first round running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire was knocked off the pedestal created for him after his Week 1 dominance. Entering Week Three, expectations were lower considering the overall speed, athleticism and toughness of the Baltimore Ravens defense.
Folks were wrong to be worried about the matchup. The rookie rusher ended the game with 25 touches for 134 yards on the night, scorching the Ravens’ vaunted linebacking corps for five receptions and 70 yards on the evening.
At every turn, it appeared that Mahomes and Reid had the perfect play called for the situation and that often led the former LSU Tiger getting the ball. This happened particularly often when Baltimore brought heavy blitzes, and the Chiefs torched them over and over again with quick routes to their leading rusher.
Through three weeks of his rookie campaign, the Offensive Rookie of the Year frontrunner 55 carries for 240 yards on the ground and 1 touchdown; he’s added another 102 yards on 11 receptions. That 114 yards per game is a blistering rate that would see CEH obliterate preseason betting lines by seeing the rookie finish at over 1,700 total yards from scrimmage.
