Chiefs vs. Chargers inactives: Demone Harris, Alex Okafor out for Chiefs

Alex Okafor and Charvarius Ward are among the Chiefs inactives against the Chargers.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers are getting set to square off in a battle of early 1-0 franchises in the AFC West in Week 2. Now both teams have made known who will be available to play and who will not with the release of their list of inactive players.

For the Chiefs, a few names were predictable since cornerback Charvarius Ward and defensive end Alex Okafor were absent from practice for the entire week. The team already declared that both defenders would miss Sunday’s road game, but neither player has been placed on injured reserve. Defensive tackle Khalen Saunders was also injured last week, but unlike Ward and Okafor, he’s expected out for quite some time, hence his placement on IR earlier this week.

Other players on the Chiefs inactives list include defensive end Demone Harris, tight end Ricky Seals-Jones, and offensive lineman Yasir Durant. The Harris inclusion on this list means Taco Charlton will be active for the Chiefs defensive line.

As for the Chargers, running back Justin Jackson will miss the team’s first AFC West showdown. The team’s seventh round pick in 2018 went down with a quad injury in the team’s Week 1 over the Cincinnati Bengals. The Chargers still have plenty of talent at the position with Austin Ekeler as the lead back and impressive fourth round rookie Joshua Kelley as his primary tandem partner now with Jackson out.
