Joey Bosa is the biggest name on the injury reports for the Chargers and Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs may have entered Week 1 with a healthy roster, but by the end of the season opener,  they would not leave with one. Alex Okafor, Charvarius Ward, and Khalen Saunders all went down with various injuries throughout the game, forcing them to miss significant snaps and perhaps more.

Thankfully for the Chiefs, those were the only names on the list who missed any practice time on Tuesday. Saunders, out with an elbow, is expected to miss more a month according to the latest report. Nothing further is known about Okafor. However, Ward is expected to get a cast on his fractured hand and not only practice later this week, but maybe even play this Sunday.

Ward’s perseverance should be a welcome sign for Chiefs’ fans, as the Chiefs’ secondary is already pretty thin, and losing a star corner would be less than ideal. Ward’s practice status is an important story moving forward, and we will be keeping a close eye on his progression.

Some new names popped up on the Chiefs injury report, but did not necessarily keep them from practicing or playing, but could play a role in the snap counts this Sunday. Most notably, center Austin Reiter is dealing with soreness in his knee. Linemen Derrick Nnadi and Kelechi Osemele were also listed with ankle concerns.

The Los Angeles Chargers have much more worrisome news on their side of the injury report. Star defensive end Joey Bosa did not practice Wednesday with an injured triceps.

Bosa played 47 snaps for the Chargers in their win over the Cincinnati Bengals this last Sunday, where he picked up a sack, 5 tackles, and 4 QB pressures. He did leave the game for a few snaps, coming back during the next defensive stand with what appeared to be a compression sleeve on his upper arm, and it is now clear why. Bosa seems to think that he is clear to go, but it does depend on the seriousness of the triceps injury.

Other notables for the Chargers’ injury report is starting Mike Pouncey, who did not play last Sunday against the Bengals. He is missing practice again this week with a hip injury. Trai Turner, the newly acquired Pro Bowl guard, was also out with a knee injury.
