Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s greatness and other Chiefs lessons from Week 1

Conclusion:

That was about as good a season opener as a fan could dream of. Even in a world unaffected by COVID-19 , the Chiefs would have been lauded for their efficient, mistake-free play. They looked like the defending world champions on Thursday.

Down the road, I’m going to be keeping a cautious eye on how Spags restructures the secondary, and will also be interested to see if linebacker Willie Gay sees a more feature role down the line.

All in all, I can’t say enough about the preparation, both at the executive and coaching level for Week 1. The Chiefs pulled off that rare feat of being able to play mid-season quality football right out of the gate.
