1. Patrick Mahomes

I’m probably biased, but I would put Mahomes as my number one player in all the NFL regardless of position. He’s just that special.

Mahomes has a chance to go down in history as the most talented passer in NFL history. Nobody has put together two seasons like Mahomes has to start his career, winning the MVP in his first year starting and then leading his team to a Super Bowl win (and Super Bowl MVP) in his second season under center.

While Mahomes is certainly no Lamar Jackson running the football, he has shown that he can make plays with his legs when he needs to. However, it’s Mahomes’ insane throwing talent that earns him this spot. He can hit a target anywhere on the field. Nothing is off limits. He’ll throw short, he’ll throw deep, he’ll throw across his body to the far side of the field, he’ll throw left-handed—there is just no way to contain him for four full quarters. The great thing for Chiefs fans is that he still seems hungry and focused and probably hasn’t even hit his prime yet.

I never thought that I’d live to see the day that the Kansas City Chiefs had the most talented and coveted quarterback in all the NFL. He’s everything we dreamed of for decades. What a time to be alive.

So there you have it Chiefs fans, my AFC quarterback rankings for 2020. It is a really weird group to rank. While I stand by my rankings, I certainly wouldn’t be surprised or upset if your list had a very different order between 5-16. Like I said to start this piece, I think there may be a bigger talent gap between 3 and 5 than there is between 5 and 16.

So what do you think? Do you think I’ve got the order all wrong? I’m really curious to read your thoughts (and lists) in the comments below.
