2. Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson absolutely earned his MVP award in the regular season last year. He completed 66.1% of his passes while throwing 36 touchdown passes and then rushed for 1,206 yards and 7 touchdowns as well. While he may not be quite a pure passer like Mahomes or Watson, his freakish running ability adds a dimension that no other quarterback can duplicate.

When a quarterback runs as much as Jackson does, there is always some injury concern, but it wasn’t an issue last season. Still, his elite status is tied to his ability to create with his legs. I still think Jackson absolutely deserves to be this high because of how he did improve his passing last season.

While he isn’t asked to pick apart defenses like Mahomes is, his completion percentage and ability to get the ball in the end zone can’t be ignored. I’m expecting another great season from Jackson, but his reliance on running and lack of postseason success keep him out of the number one spot.
