5. Ryan Tannehill

I know I sound like a broken record, but once again I would have never guessed that I’d have put Ryan Tannehill in the top five AFC quarterbacks. Tannehill had a fantastic run as the Tennessee Titans starter once he took over and even quarterbacked them to a couple of playoff wins and an appearance in the AFC title game. Obviously, the Titans rushing attack and defense had a lot to do with that, but Tannehilll played really well and deserves his fair share of the credit.

I know many still aren’t buying into Tannehill, but his numbers last season can’t be ignored: 70% completions with an impressive 9.6 yards per attempt with 22 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions isn’t just a nice stretch or a couple hot games, that’s a fantastic season. He led the NFL in passer rating and his PFF grade of 90.2 was tied with Patrick Mahomes.

I admittedly always thought Tannehill was better in Miami than he got credit for, and I think he’ll prove this season that last year wasn’t a joke. That probably won’t be enough to make him a top ten quarterback in the NFL, but in the AFC that is still good enough to make the top five.
