8. Josh Allen

This is where I start to surprise myself in where some of these quarterbacks ended up. If you had asked me before I sat down to make this list if Josh Allen would finish in the upper half of my AFC quarterbacks, I would have said no, but here he is. While I think his accuracy will always be an issue, I think he’s proving himself to be kind of a poor man’s Cam Newton. He’s a big-bodied, strong-armed, athletic quarterback whp can create with his legs and throw the long ball (you’re just never sure where it will come down).

I don’t think Allen will ever play at a MVP level, like Newton has, but he did raise his completion percentage 6% from his rookie year while rushing for an impressive 9 touchdowns (while throwing for 20). If Allen can just take one more small step forward in his pocket passing, he can be a quarterback that Buffalo can win with. He’ll never be an elite passer like Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers, but has shown himself to be a guy that can make plays. In the AFC right now that’s good enough to get you onto the top half of these rankings.
