Tyreek Hill left Chiefs practice on Thursday with a leg injury.

The Kansas City Chiefs saw one of their single biggest stars leave with an injury from Thursday’s practice when Tyreek Hill came off the field with a reported leg concern, per Nate Taylor of The Athletic.

Hill missed four games last season (and the better part of another one) after suffering a sternoclavicular injury in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019. He sat out the rest of the season opener and went on to miss the next four games of the season. It wasn’t until Week 6 that he returned for the Chiefs and put up 5 catches for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns. He would go on to earn his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl.

Until last season, however, Hill has held up very well at the pro level despite being a smaller receiver at 5’10”. Hill is as tough as any receiver and has worked through hamstring concerns or other temporary concerns to keep playing for the Chiefs. Prior to last year, Hill had played in every single game he could (save for a season-ending game in 2017 in which head coach Andy Reid held his starters back).

It appears to be good news that he was able to leave the field under his own power—and even jog away at that. The Chiefs will have more details to come in media sessions with reporters soon enough. Let’s hope the injury is short-term and that Hill’s readiness for the regular season is not in question.
