Chris Jones and Byron Pringle joined the Chiefs injured list on Saturday.

The Kansas City Chiefs continued to practice during training camp on Saturday after their first full day in pads and five more names were added to the team’s list of injuries. The biggest name to be listed was defensive lineman Chris Jones, who was held out of practice due to a groin injury.

Jones was given a long-term extension just weeks ago by the Chiefs to the tune of four years and worth up to $85 million with incentives. Herbie Teope of the Kansas City Star noted that Jones was working on the side with a trainer in practice, but further details were not given.

As for other players who missed practice for the Chiefs include cornerbacks Alex Brown, Antonio Hamilton, and Lavert Hill. In addition, wide receiver Byron Pringle missed practice with a hamstring issue.

As for good news, the Chiefs were able to see pass rusher Frank Clark return to the field after being out with an undisclosed illness—not COVID-19—on Friday.

Some players continue to work their way back from long-term injuries, including offensive lineman Martinas Rankin, defensive lineman Derrick Nnadi, cornerback BoPete Keyes, safety Juan Thornhill, and tight end Deon Yelder.

The Chiefs are allowed a total of 14 practices in pads until Thursday, September 3, one week before they are set to open the NFL’s regular season at Arrowhead Stadium against the Houston Texans. That’s also two days before active rosters are due on September 5.
