As the Kansas City Chiefs begin training camp, we take a look at the top 5 questions surrounding the team after an unusual offseason.

For the first time in 50 years, the Kansas City Chiefs open training camp as Super Bowl champions. That’s not the only difference in terms of the upcoming season. After an offseason spent fighting a global pandemic, the NFL is still figuring out how things will function going forward. With offseason programs canceled, the Chiefs are now in training camp. Only this time, it’s being held in K.C. instead of St. Joseph.

The Chiefs have put together protocols that fit their stadium and practice facility to keep everyone safe as the season gets underway. If you haven’t checked out the video of those procedures, you can check that out here. In the video, Chiefs president Mark Donovan goes through all of the new procedures around training camp that they are taking to keep everyone healthy.

As Super Bowl champions, the motto for the 2020 season is “Run It Back.” As history has shown us, winning back-to-back Super Bowls is challenging. The pandemic taking away the offseason adds another layer of difficulty. However, the front office and coaching staff did a great job of working around that by bringing back most of the starting cast from last season to keep continuity in the locker room.

Unfortunately, there will be some missing players from the Super Bowl lineup who have chosen to opt out of the 2020 season. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Damien Williams, and third-round pick Lucas Niang have all made the decision not to play this year. Like other teams around the league, the Chiefs will have to find ways to replace those players on short notice.

With all of that being said, let’s take a look at the five biggest questions surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs as they enter training camp.
