The Kansas City Chiefs could lose a ton of free agents in 2021
Tight Ends
1. Ricky Seals-Jones
2. Deon Yelder
Many Chiefs fans have been clamoring for more depth at tight end for several years now. It looks like Ricky Seals-Jones and Deon Yelder are set to be Travis Kelce‘s backups in 2020. Unfortunately, they are both set to be free agents after this season. That means that the Chiefs will have to find a way to re-sign one or both of them despite their salary cap issues or go with two new cheap options who won’t know the system.
Unlike wide receiver, I don’t even see a promising practice squad option left on the 80-man roster for them to develop this year and promote next season. Maybe that means the Chiefs will finally target another tight end in the draft, but I’ve kind of given up on that hope after having them avoid such prospects over the last several years despite having depth issues behind Kelce. This may be a position where Brett Veach has to work a little magic next offseason.
Another huge potential area of loss for the Chiefs next year is on the offensive line.
