Former Chiefs wideout Albert Wilson has decided to opt out of the 2020 season.
The list of current and former Kansas City Chiefs players who have decided to opt out of the 2020 NFL season is growing each day.
The latest player to announce his intention to sit out of the season for the sake of his health and safety in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic is former Chiefs wide receiver Albert Wilson.

Wilson, who is now a member of the Miami Dolphins, has had a rough ride since he first signed a major deal with them in free agency two years ago. Wilson suffered a severe hip injury during his first season with the team which forced him to injured reserve. Last season, Wilson began the season slowly as he was still working his way into game shape, but he came on strong at season’s end with 197 of his 351 total receiving yards in 2019 coming in the last three games.
It looked as if Wilson could be a potential cut for the Dolphins coming into this offseason, but he decided to restructure his contract in order to remain with the team this spring. The move took him from his original three-year deal worth up to $24 million he signed in the spring of 2018 to a one-year deal with a cap hit of just over $5.1 million.
Wilson first entered the NFL with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent back in 2014 and quickly impressed with his special teams play and solid hands. Wilson climbed the depth chart in each season with the Chiefs and eventually became known enough to land such a lucrative deal in free agency from Miami.
Wilson had 124 catches for 1,544 yards and 7 touchdowns in four seasons with the Chiefs.
