The AFC West could become the new home to free agent pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney.

The AFC West is already home to several of the best pass rushers in the National Football League. The addition of Jadeveon Clowney would give the division an embarrassment of riches at the position.

The Las Vegas Raiders are rumored to be interested in adding Clowney to their roster, but price is going to be the sticking point for any team in pursuit of Clowney. The free agent pass rusher has made it clear he doesn’t mind waiting to sign with a team, which means some franchise is going to have to be willing to up their offer and outbid other known suitors.

Along with the Raiders, the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, and Cleveland Browns have all shown interest in Clowney to one degree or another but no team has pulled the proverbial trigger.

The AFC West already features dynamic duos on three of the four teams in the division. The Kansas City Chiefs rule the division and won Super Bowl LIV thanks in large part to Chris Jones and Frank Clark up front. The Denver Broncos have Von Miller and Bradley Chubb as their edge rushers, while the Los Angeles Chargers have Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram to lead their pass rush.

The Raiders have needed a pass rush for years, but had to be very pleased with the 10-sack effort of fourth round rookie defensive end Maxx Crosby in 2019. Given the youth and potential of Clelin Ferrell and Mo Hurst along the line as well, the upside of the line is substantial and Clowney’s veteran presence could push the entire unit over the top.

The Raiders had 5 quarterback hits and 2.5 sacks against the Chiefs in 2019 across two games. The Raiders lost both games by a combined score of 68-19.
