Outside of the AFC West, who are the KC Chiefs’ biggest rivals?

If you ask the average Chiefs fan who the biggest rival for their beloved Kansas City team, you’re likely to get a response of either the Las Vegas Raiders or the Denver Broncos. But what happens when you begin to consider rivals outside of the AFC West? What about outside of the AFC altogether? Or what if you consider former rivals who aren’t so much rivals anymore?

The conversation is endless, fascinating, and not without room for ample opinion and debate. Nonetheless, we’ve attempted to create categories of Chiefs’ rivals answering those precise questions.

In an attempt to outline rival franchises, we found it most prudent (for us) to create four categories, which you’ll find in the editorials that follows. We’ve listed what we would consider Kansas City’s three biggest rivals in the AFC (not including the West) historically, the three biggest non-West rivalries currently, the three biggest NFC rivalries for the Chiefs historically, and the three biggest NFC rivalries in now and into the foreseeable future.

As with any list, there is sure to be ample disagreement! We look forward to hearing your opinions!
