Former Kansas City Chiefs running back LeSean McCoy says he could see himself back with the Philadelphia Eagles once again.

Last year, veteran running back LeSean McCoy ended up finding a new team just before the start of the 2019 regular season. These days, he’s hoping to find something a bit sooner in the process before the 2020 slate begins and one potential home could be a reunion with the Philadelphia Eagles.

McCoy, who played for the Kansas City Chiefs last season, is a free agent once again hoping to prove he’s got more left in the tank than what people might believe after such a disappointing end to last season. One place that makes sense is with a franchise and city that knows him best.

McCoy was asked about the possibility of signing with Philly once again on Good Morning Football on the NFL Network. His response:

"“I could see that. On another note, since I left, you haven’t seen the 25 active in green, so you never know. I’m going to keep my options open, though. I could see myself there in Philly. Like I said, that’s home, so you never know.”"

The Eagles were McCoy’s first team in a long NFL career that features 11 seasons of impressive production and sum totals that verge on Hall of Fame consideration. Over those 11 years in the NFL, McCoy has 2,447 career carries for 11,071 rushing yards and 73 touchdowns. He also has another 16 scores and 3,797 yards receiving.

McCoy is a six-time Pro Bowler with the Eagles and Buffalo Bills who is ranked No. 22 on the league’s all-time rushing list and No. 27 all time in yards from scrimmage. Another solid season or two could certainly cement his place in Canton if he’s able to pull it off.

Unfortunately for McCoy, a great opportunity with the Chiefs last season was soured midway through the year. McCoy led all Chiefs running backs in yards at the season’s halfway point but a couple key fumbles seemed to turn the Chiefs coaching staff against McCoy. In the second half of the year, McCoy was a healthy scratch under the guise of resting him for the stretch run. Instead it felt more like a coach’s doghouse, and that felt especially true when the stretch run came and went without McCoy even listed as active.

Even as the Chiefs went to the Super Bowl and won their first title in 50 years, McCoy was nowhere to be found. Instead even rookie Darwin Thompson was activated for the big game in place of a veteran who was still very productive just one year ago.

McCoy had 101 carries for 465 yards and 4 touchdowns last year for Kansas City.
