Emmitt Thomas
Emmitt Thomas joined the Chiefs after being an undrafted rookie free agent following the 1966 NFL Draft. The defensive back starred for the team for 13 years, making five Pro Bowls and being named to a 1st Team All-Pro one time. He was part of both of the Chiefs Super Bowl appearances during that span, including their Super Bowl IV victory in 1970. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
Following his playing career, Thomas began his career as a football coach. After coaching for numerous teams from 1979-2009, Thomas returned to Kansas City as their defensive backs coach in 2010. Thomas remained in that post until the end of the 2018 season.
Not only was Thomas a lifelong Chief and a Chiefs Hall of Famer, but he also made a fundamental difference in the team that ultimately won the Super Bowl the year following his retirement. In his time, he was fundamental in the development of Charvarius Ward, Kendall Fuller, and Daniel Sorenson, all of whom were integral to the Chiefs championship.
For all of these reasons, Thomas deserves a Super Bowl LIV Championship ring.
