With the full NFL schedule released, we take a look at some games that the Kansas City Chiefs need to keep an eye on as the 2020 season progresses.

One of the most important games for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019 was not even on the team’s schedule. It was the Miami Dolphins matchup against the New England Patriots in Week 17, the game in which Ryan “Fitzmagic” Fitzpatrick led one of the most magical and exciting drives ever seen in football to score a the game-winning touchdown over the New England Patriots. This loss cost the Pats the second seed in the AFC and gave K.C. a first-round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Chiefs will no doubt win plenty of games in 2020, but that does not keep them from having to keep an eye on their divisional and conference opponents throughout the season. This is especially important with the NFL’s new playoff format that only gives a first round bye to the No. 1 seed in the conference. The team that lands that seed will have a huge advantage over the rest of the teams in the playoffs, thus it is vital to strive for that spot.

With the NFL season still a few months away, there is no telling which teams will be jockeying with the Chiefs for top seeding come January. Some teams are obviously going to land near the top, but for many of these picks, it will be strictly speculative, based on power rankings and records in the 2019 season.

Which games are the most important to the Chiefs in 2020? What is the exact effect those games will have on the Chiefs?
