Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Bashaud Breeland offered up his version of events that transpired leading to his arrest on Twitter and maintained his innocence.

On Tuesday, Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Bashaud Breeland was reportedly arrested in York County, South Carolina on multiple charges. UPDATE: You can read the full arrest report below:

The array of charges included “resisting arrest, having alcohol in a motor vehicle with the seal broken, having an open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle, possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana or 10 grams of hash, and driving without a license,” per ESPN reporter Adam Teicher.

At the time, Teicher mentioned that Breeland was in the York County Jail, but only hours later, Breeland was posting on his phone offering up his version of the day’s events and maintaining his innocence. It is also interesting to note that there is no record now of Breeland in the most updated listings of York County Jail’s recent bookings. Breeland offers his story below:

At the time of the incident, neither the Chiefs or nor Breeland’s agent would make any sort of public comment. Instead, the Chiefs acknowledged their awareness that something happened and nothing more.

Breeland came to the Chiefs before the 2019 season on a one-year deal that helped to deliver a major defensive turnaround and, ultimately, the team’s first Super Bowl victory in 50 years. In addition, Breeland had an interception in the big game of Jimmy Garoppolo.

This offseason, Breeland re-signed with the Chiefs on a one-year contract worth $3 million that keeps his experience in a very young secondary now that Kendall Fuller has left to play in Washington. Ward and Breeland are considered the likeliest starters on the outside while the coaching staff learns exactly what they have in new imports like free agent Antonio Hamilton and rookies like L’Jarius Sneed, BoPete Keyes and a few promising undrafted free agents.
