9. Jacksonville Jaguars – Derrick Brown, DL, Auburn

Two years ago at this time, the buzz of the AFC offseason was about a dynamic Jaguars defense that took the New England Patriots to the edge. That defensive front featured names like Calais Campbell, Marcel Dareus, Yannick Ngakoue, Dante Fowler, and Malik Jackson. These days, every single one of those players is out, save for Ngakoue who is doing everything he can to escape Jacksonville.

With stop-gap replacements like Al Woods and Rodney Gunter, it’s easy to see why the Jags would want to stop the bleeding with their first-round investments. The team has two firsts at their disposal with more assets likely on the way if Ngakoue gets his way. The first should be used on the best defensive lineman in this year’s class, who somehow fell all the way to No. 10 in this mock.

Brown is somewhat a gift from the draft gods at No. 10 overall. He’s an immediate starter even on a good line with the floor and ceiling to fill the shoes of those who’ve gone before him. Very few draft instances would allow a player like Campbell or others to go unmissed, but Brown will immediately disrupt pro pockets with the instincts and intelligence to enhance his tremendous blend of size/strength. Next to Josh Allen, the Jags are remaking something nice along the defensive front with more picks to come. (Matt Conner)

Other Players Considered: C.J. Henderson, CB, Florida; Javon Kinlaw, DL, South Carolina
