28. Baltimore Ravens – Patrick Queen, LB, LSU

Analysis by Arrowhead Addict contributor Lyle Graversen

You can make a strong case for the Ravens biggest need entering the draft being a linebacker. You can also make a strong case for Patrick Queen being the best linebacker in this draft class. So this just feels like a perfect fit for the back end of the first round for both player and team.

If Queen is allowed to roam free, he will be an absolute star in the NFL. While his size and strength leave a little bit to be desired, his speed, instincts, tackling, and coverage skills are all great. If Queen is put in a position where he has to constantly engage blockers and take on ball carriers head-on all day, it would be a waste of his talents. If put in a scheme where he’s kept clean and can hunt ball carriers sideline to sideline, he will shine. His good coverage skills also mean he won’t have to come off the field on obvious passing downs.

While I think Queen is the better player and the right pick here, I did consider Wisconsin’s Zack Baun as well. While Baun is much less proven as a traditional linebacker, he has shown the ability to drop back in coverage effectively and can be a quality edge rusher on passing downs as well. I’m confident in picking Queen here, but I also wouldn’t be shocked if the Ravens like Baun’s pass rush upside either. (Lyle Graversen)
