2020 NFL Draft: Complete first round mock delivers pass rusher to Chiefs
10. Cleveland Browns – Andrew Thomas, OL, Georgia
Analysis by Arrowhead Addict contributor Kelly Thompson
The Browns have a tough decision to make as the top two tackles on their board are still there when they go on the clock. They, along with draft analysts far and wide, are split down the middle on Thomas and Alabama’s Jedrick Wills Jr. Ultimately, they choose Thomas because of his experience playing left tackle in college. They spent big to bring in free agent Jack Conklin, who has worked hard to master mechanics and technique on the right. It feels like a bad move to move him to the left now. Drafting Thomas means they do not have to do that.
Thomas is a 6’5, 315 pound lineman who comes into the NFL as a three-year SEC starter who got better every year that he played in Athens. He played against NFL talent on a week in and week out basis in the SEC, and more than proved himself. He has played and can play either tackle position, and I think he’ll be a left tackle at the next level, especially for the Browns.
Thomas is a hulking left tackle who has the talent and experience to start in the NFL from day one. The move improves the run game in Cleveland while also adding needed protection for Baker Mayfield. (Kelly Thompson)
Other Players Considered: Jedrick Wills, Jr., Tackle, Alabama; Javon Kinlaw, DL, South Carolina
