Patrick Onwuasor

Another member of the Baltimore Ravens? Yes. Consider this the potential play versus the proven play, depending on how the Chiefs want things to go. The Ravens are letting “Peanut” hit the open market after hoping he would be able to take over a starting spot in 2019. Unfortunate for Onwuasor, he didn’t quite look the part after showing strong potential in a more limited role.

Onwuasor has been a nice blitzing linebacker and special teams standout for the Ravens so far in his career. The speed is there and there’s good reason they handed him the MIKE role in the heart of their defense just one year ago. Still raw and just 27, there’s a chance for him to develop yet with coaching if he’s able to get it. He just seemed overwhelmed when tasked with performance and communication at the heart of it all.

A former undrafted free agent out of Portland State, Onwuasor comes with 9 career sacks, 6 batted passes, 5 forced fumbles and 1 interception in his first four years in the league.

Synopsis: Any addition of Onwuasor would be less about adding a coverage specific linebacker to play a limited role and more about an upside play to find a hidden gem who provides that and more. Would a change of scenery work? It’s impossible to say.
