Jamie Collins and other free agent linebackers for Chiefs consideration

Nick Kwiatkoski
Nick Kwiatkoski is an enticing option because of a combination of three things. 1.) He’s 26 years old, 2.) He had a stellar 2019 and, 3.) He probably won’t demand a large salary.
Kwiatkoski started to see a lot of playing time for the Bears in response to injury to Roquan Smith. The 26 year old was able to put up 51 solo tackles along with an interception and a forced fumble. Kwiatkoski, drafted in 2016, was able to learn under Vic Fangio and Chuck Pagano, both of whom are intelligent defensive minds.
The most impressive aspect of Kwiatkoski’s game is his pass coverage. He moves with a nimble awareness and a good sense for the ball, and this awareness was on display during the Bears’ game against the Lions, in which his quick read of a pass led to an interception.
The Chiefs are in need of someone with those coverage capabilities, and for a low cost, the Chiefs ought to look into Kwiatkoski. In the event that Kwiatkoski performs well, they could reward him with a larger deal later on.
