The Kansas City Chiefs may need to shop around for a new face at running back in free agency. We take a look at the best options.

No one can argue that the Kansas City Chiefs are the best team in football right now, and it much of it has to do with having the best players in the league. One roster area of concern, however, is at running back.

Despite having an extremely productive postseason, including an MVP-worthy Super Bowl performance, Damien Williams has proven to be an unreliable asset for a full season for the Chiefs. His production second half of the season, with more than 94% of his yards coming from Week 9 onward in 2019.

Williams’ third year on the team will cost the team $2.8 million dollars, an amount the team might not be able to afford (save the players confirming the CBA and it boosting the cap limit quite a bit). Thankfully for the Chiefs, the team option allows for them to make the cut with only $500K in dead cap space.

With unreliable options on the ground, the Chiefs need to be on the lookout for some new faces to add to the roster at running back. Of course, the draft is a great opportunity to get that done. Long before the draft begins, however, is the start of the NFL free agency, where plenty of decent running backs will be looking for a new team to call home.

Kansas City is a prime landing spot for free agents. Realistically, the Chiefs could land any player they wanted, with the cap limit being the only real limitation.

Some great running backs are hitting the free agency market in a few weeks, with plenty of price efficient options to help with the Chiefs navigate the tight cap situation they have been put in. We broke down the best fits and organized them by their price, helping fans get to know the potential newcomers to K.C.
